Fresh Window. The Art of Display & Display of Art exhibition catalogue, Museum Tinguely, Basel

 

Pleased to be part of the accompanying exhibition catalogue of Fresh Window. The Art of Display & Display of Art at Museum Tinguely in Basel. The show explores the close links between the histories of art and shop window display.

My installation Soft Power from 2010 is discussed as part of an essay by Alys Williams looking at the history of VITRINE - from its inception as an artist run space to a successful commercial gallery with three spaces in London and Basel. Two of these spaces were large vitrines, attracting site-specific work and anticipating the contemporary trend of using vacant window spaces for exhibitions.
